Spink Comhaltas has a comprehensive instrument bank of in excess of 50 instruments covering flute, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, button accordion, concertina, cello, mandola, bouzouki, harps, uileann pipes, key boards and ceili band drums.
Spink Comhaltas has a number of excellent teachers who teach tin whistle, flute, fiddle, concertina, button accordion, mandolin, banjo, traditional Irish piano and ceili band drums. Our students are prepared for Comhaltas SCT music examinations, where our students have achieved gold medal awards nationally. Our students are also prepared for Fleadh Cheoil competitions where they can compete in solo and group competitions. Spink Comhaltas has an impressive track record over the last number of years in both group and solo competitions at county, provincial and All Ireland level.
Most importantly, however, we place an emphasis on developing a love and appreciation of traditional Irish music and look to encourage our students to continue playing music for their own pleasure and enjoyment. An important part of Spink Comhaltas is supporting the wider community we operate within, and we try to support local events as well as possible through our music.
Our junior classes are delivered in Spink Community Hall on Friday evenings, with classes starting at 5.30 pm.
Our adult classes are delivered in Abbeyleix Heritage House on Monday evenings.
Music classes run from mid September until end May and follow the primary school calendar in terms of holidays.
The last page on this registration form sets out the next steps to complete registration.
We hope you consider Spink Comhaltas to further your journey in traditional Irish music.
