Mark Vesey

Mark is an experienced multi-instrumentalist who specialises in banjo, tenor guitar, accordion and drums. However, he is also very accomplished at a range of other instruments, including mandolin, 6-string guitar, bouzouki, concertina, fiddle, double bass, tin whistle and piano.

Mark has won All Ireland titles at under-age and senior level. He also completed all of the Comhaltas SCT exams and was awarded the Mícheál Ó hEidhin Gold Medal for outstanding results in the Comhaltas SCT music examinations in 2016. In 2016 he co-founded the Laois 8-piece group Fiúntas and lead the group to second place in the final in 2017 in the National Concert Hall.

A 4 th year medical student in UCC, Mark has continued his involvement in music there, and was the Chairman of UCC TradSoc, and was the leader of the team who ran the TradFest in 2022. He is looking forward to performing in Sweden in 2023 as part of his medical studies there.

Mark has worked with many musicians, but key influences are James Harvey, Paul Finn and Colm Phelan on banjo, accordion and drums respectively, Martin Tourish for group arrangements and Alan Finn for bands.

A strong team player, Mark continues to coach and motivate young musicians, particularly for group and band competitions.
